Learning-Intensive Transition Format – Professional Positioning in the German Employment System
CareerSuccess Germany is a structured transition format within our intercultural qualification and integration programme.
It is designed for individuals with international educational or professional backgrounds who are preparing to position themselves within the German employment system. The programme deepens selected cultural and systemic dimensions that are critical for applications, interviews, onboarding and early professional participation in Germany.
CareerSuccess builds on the ZFU-certified distance learning course
“The Hidden Rules of German Culture” and is implemented within the CORE learning environment.
Why Transition Matters
Strong academic performance alone is often not enough in Germany.
Employers are less focused on how good someone is and more on whether everyday collaboration works – reliably, clearly and predictably.
These expectations are rarely made explicit. They are shaped by communication styles, feedback, responsibility, structure and documentation.
CareerSuccess Germany helps participants understand these hidden rules and apply them in real transition situations.
What’s included
1. Cultural Foundation & Orientation (CORE)
Katharina Olympia Wittig A guided introduction to the ZFU-certified distance learning course, providing cultural foundations for studying, applying and working in Germany within the CORE learning environment.
2. Cultural Transition & ADAPT – Navigating Professional Contexts in Germany
Dr. Tanja Keni A learning-intensive course combining cultural transition perspectives and the ADAPT Life Cycle to support phase-based understanding of professional expectations and adaptation processes in the German work context.
3. Application Contexts in Germany
Sara Blum A contextualised exploration of how applications function in Germany, including structure, clarity and cultural signalling in CVs and application documents.
4. Identifying How Skills Are Positioned and Interpreted
in the German Application System
Harita Hinglajia Participants examine how evaluation criteria, structural patterns and cultural expectations shape the interpretation of skills in German recruitment processes.
5. Interview Situations in the German Context
Dr. Márta Kojnok A learning-focused analysis of interview situations in Germany, highlighting interaction patterns, evaluation criteria and culturally shaped communication.
Across all modules, participants reflect on how communication, feedback, structure, responsibility and clarity are interpreted in German professional contexts.
Live+ Learning Companion on CORE
Each live learning session is accompanied by a Live+ Learning Companion on CORE. This digital learning space supports sustained learning and includes:

Programme Logic
CareerSuccess Germany supports participants during the application and transition phase by connecting cultural understanding with concrete professional contexts in Germany. The format combines:
▪️ the ZFU-certified distance learning course
▪️ the CORE learning and implementation environment
▪️ live, guided learning-intensification sessions
▪️ digital learning companions for reflection and application
All learnings are embedded in CORE and follow a coherent didactic learning logic, based on the ZFU-certified distance learning course
“The Hidden Rules of German Culture”.
⚠️ Sessions are conducted by qualified trainers from the ICA network. Trainer assignments may vary by cohort.

CareerSuccess Germany is a structured learning format designed to support professional positioning within the German employment system.
Participants work in small groups (maximum 10 participants) with guided reflection, structured exchange and contextualised system analysis. The focus lies on understanding how qualifications, experience and professional behaviour are interpreted within German recruitment and onboarding processes.
