I’m convincing – because I sound familiar

I’m not an expat.
I don’t have a migration background.

I speak plainly.
I sound familiar.
And in most rooms, that’s enough to be convincing.

Not because I learned it.
But because I grew up with it.

In job interviews, performance reviews, project pitches
I come across as confident before I’ve even proven anything.

I didn’t notice for a long time.
But that’s a head start.
Not an earned one – an inherited one.

Many international talents don’t start with less skill.
They just start further away from the picture
of what “professional” is supposed to sound like here.

And then they hear:
“Not visible enough.”
“No clear profile.”
“Needs more presence.”

Maybe that just means
not familiar enough.

I never had to learn how to sound right here.
Maybe that’s my biggest advantage.
